Throught the week: Borno State ICT Agency Champions Inclusivity: Empowering Both Disabled Communities and Young Innovators

Throughout the week, the Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) has been actively engaged in promoting both the inclusion of people with disabilities and supporting young innovators. On May 18th, 2024, BICTDA received a delegation of people living with disabilities, led by their Chairman, Mohammed Abubakar Kwalwakwalwa. The Chairman commended Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum for establishing BICTDA and appointing Engr. Muhammed Ahmad Kabir Wanori as its Pioneer Executive Secretary. He requested BICTDA's support in including people with disabilities in ongoing digital literacy training, stressing the importance of accessibility and equal opportunities in the state's digital transformation.

Engr. Wanori assured the group that Governor Zulum had already made provisions for people with disabilities in all ICT centers, underscoring the government's commitment to inclusivity. He further requested a comprehensive list of disabled members from each local government area to ensure their full participation. This collaborative effort aims to empower people with disabilities with digital skills, facilitating their integration into the state's economic and social fabric.

The meeting concluded with a symbolic group photo, signifying partnership and solidarity. As a token of appreciation, BICTDA presented a small gift to the disability group, marking a positive and inclusive engagement. This milestone meeting underscores Borno State's dedication to digital inclusivity, promising a more equitable and accessible future for all residents.
