BICTDA and Disability Group Forge Path for Digital Inclusivity in Borno State

Today, May 18th, 2024, the Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) received a courtesy call from people living with disabilities. The Executive Secretary, Engr. Muhammed Ahmad Kabir Wanori FNSE, received their Chairman: Mohammed Abubakar Kwalwakwalwa, and his members. The Chairman of the group commended His Excellency the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Zulum CON mni, FNSE for establishing the agency and appointing Engr. Muhammed Ahmad Kabir Wanori FNSE as the Pioneer Executive Secretary of the Agency. The Chairman requested support from the Borno State Government through BICTDA to include people living with disabilities in the digital literacy training currently ongoing in the State, emphasizing the need for accessibility and equal opportunities in the state's digital transformation.
The Executive Secretary informed that Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum CON mni, FNSE has already made provisions for people living with disabilities in all ICT centers, demonstrating the government's commitment to inclusivity. He requested a comprehensive list of members from each local government area to facilitate the inclusion process, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital journey. This collaboration aims to empower people with disabilities with digital skills, enabling them to fully participate in the state's economic and social development.
Following the fruitful discussion, the Executive Secretary and his team took a group photo with the disability group, symbolizing the partnership and solidarity. As a token of appreciation, the BICTDA team presented a small gift to the people living disability group, marking a positive and inclusive engagement. This meeting sets a milestone in Borno State's journey towards digital inclusivity, paving the way for a more equitable and accessible future for all.
