BICTDA MEETs WITH ZOA INTERNATIONAL TO COLLABORATE ON IMPROVING DIGITAL LITERACY IN THE STATE

On May 10th 2024, the Executive Secretary of Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) Engr. Mohammed Ahmed Kabir Wanori FNSE received representatives from ZOA International in his office and discussed ways to enhance digital literacy in Borno.

Engr. Wanori expressed the administration's commitment on digital literacy under the leadership of Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum CON, mni, FNSE. He highlighted his passion for the initiative by mentioning the establishment of 21 Digital Literacy Centers across the 27 local governments, with four currently fully equipped and operational.
BICTDA's target is to train 32,000 participants each calendar year. This includes local government staff, adults, and out-of-school children. So far, 1,200 participants have registered, with 300 from each of the four functioning local governments and minimum of 150 participants receive training daily
At the end of the training which will last for 3 months participants will receive supports from the agency.
Representatives from ZOA International expressed their alignment with BICTDA's goals. They aim to train at least 16,000 participants through Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Borno, with 3,000 already having received basic training in digital literacy with a focus on girls education.
The Executive Secretary constituted a committee to discuss modalities for accelerating the collaboration.
